Animal Care Specialist Job Duties
Entry Level Position:

Our hours are 7:40 am to 6pm with lunch hours sometime between 12:00 and 2:00. There will be variations on these hours from time to time.
You will be required to work rotating weekends and some holidays. Animals need care 365 days of the year. Also, we board animals, so the holidays are a busy time for us.

On - Hire List of Duties:

Walking Dogs, Cleaning Cages, Feeding animals, Trash Removal, The Laundry Process, Bathroom Cleaning, Patient Care, Baths & Dips, Sweeping and Mopping floors, Assemble & Wrap Surgery Packs, Fold & Wrap Surgery gowns, Steam Autoclaves, Gas Autoclave. Basic math skills are of great importance; you will be tested on your math knowledge.

This job is of extreme importance. The cleanliness of the hospital and our borders environment depends on this position. It insures that each and every boarder returns home in better condition than when they arrived. It is therefore, imperative that you are an excellent observer. You must pay close attention to the smallest details of every animal in the clinic. Are they eating? Are their stools normal? What does their skin and general appearance look like? It is your responsibility to feed each animal the required diet. If an animal is listless and not exercising perhaps there is a medical reason. It is up to you to keep these animals clean, happy and healthy.

"Feeding Programs" Special Foods, Isolation Laundry, Bio-Security, Feline Leukemia, Parvo Virus, Canine Distemper, Feline Upper Respiratory Disease, Toxoplasmosis, Heartworm disease, Sharps & Medical Waste. Pain in Animals , X-Rays, Contagious Disease / Isolation, Euthanasia, Hands-On Restraint.
Assist Doctors with Exams, Draw up all vaccinations, Heartworm Tests, Leukemia and Parvo Testing, Medical Records Info, Computerized Appointments, Preparing Estimates. Advanced Hands-On Restraint.
Surgery Assistant, Abbreviations & Conversion Tables, Dogs with Special Faces, Specimen Preparation, I\ Catheters, Preparation of Surgeons and Surgical assistants, Preparation of Surgical Patients, Medical Record System, Chart Preparation ,' forms, Lab Samples, Controlled Substances, Cardiac Arrest Protocol, Pre-anesthetic Diagnostic testing, Respiratory Arrest, Anesthesia Control Sheet, Necropsy Protocol, Adverse / Sentinel Events, Adverse Drug Events. Inventory.

You will be trained and then tested for competence. You will given 6 months to complete your training program. At the end of the 6 months, you will be evaluated. If you are found competent, you will be offered Full Time Employment.
