Horses and livestock are required to be inspected by a veterinarian before crossing state lines. Depending on the year there may even be some interstate movement restrictions. These restrictions will change on a daily bases for New Mexico and may other states. Its important that the veterinary office call and check for any new restrictions because of these quick changes. With that in mind these are state agencies so they will only be open during the week so it’s important to plan ahead and make sure you give your vet enough time to get the information necessary.
Both Horses and cattle are required to have certain testing for travel. Horses need coggins tests to travel but once tested this is good for a year. Bulls may need a trichamonas test, or tuberculosis test depending on where they are going. Import regulations can be found on this page.
