Digital radiographs can show both bone and soft tissue detail rather than one or the other. This allows the doctors to see a great deal more than they ever did before in one radiograph. Also digital “rads” can be taken very quickly so in a tranquilized or anestheized animal this allows the animal to be woken up that much quicker.
Digital radiographs can be adjusted after being taken or quickly retaken if needed for clarity. Also, as they are digital they can easily be sent to radiologists for second opinions or specialists for other extenuating circumstances.
